         Engineering Manager

 My client has just been listed as one of Pittsburgh's fastest-growing, privately-held companies for a 3rd straight year and are in need of an experienced Engineering Manager for their Pittsburgh, PA headquarters. This position reports to the VP of Engineering and will be responsible for both new product design and sustaining engineering projects. . Their main product line consists of very large, complex compressors used in a number of industries including healthcare, oil production, automotive, pharmaceutical, and amusement parks.

**ALL candidates must have a background with heavy emphasis on Mechanical Engineering**

**ALL candidates must have experience with large, industrial equipment such as air compressors and rotating equipment**

Position:   Product Engineering Manager

Education:  Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering;                 Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred

Knowledge Disciplines:  Machine Design, Vibration Analysis, Fluid Mechanics, Solid Modeling, FEA Stress Analysis, Rotating equipment experience a plus       


Experience: 15 to 20 years Our goal is to find someone that can demonstrate a sound engineering background - preferably in rotating equipment  - the ideal candidate will have experience working at various levels within a mechanical engineering department - eventually rising to a position of added responsibility and management of others.  We anticipated that it would take 15 -20 years to have acquired such experience.

Job Description: Responsible for hands-on supervision of mechanical engineers, aeronautical engineers, CAD designers, and CAD drafters to support new product designs and sustaining of existing compressor frames.  Will be required to contribute on an engineering level as well as the primary supervisory responsibilities.  Work closely with other departments such as manufacturing, marketing, sales, and service to assure the design requirements for a quality, cost effective, product are achieved in a timely manner.   Domestic and international travel is periodically required.  

Must be knowledgeable in the majority of the disciplines listed above and be creative in how this knowledge is utilized.  A dynamic, positive attitude, and team leader personality is essential.  Must have good verbal and writing skills to communicate ideas with others.   

 Dept has approx 15 direct reports- R&D and sustaining engineers and drafter.  Mostly a mechanical engineering environment.  Position reports to the VP of Engineering.
